countdown to MAY!

Three days at school this week - and then a few weeks of 5-days (at last!) at school.....

Letters Q and R are the targets this week, and the sight words are other, were, and because.

Thursday is a district Professional Development day for teachers, and we are off to Moncton for the annual province-wide Subject Council meetings on Friday.

Keep on working!

Another short week for GMCS, as Monday, April 20th, is a Curriculum Day for teachers, and we will all be going to St. Stephen to meet with our grade level counterparts in the district.

We are finding words that begin with the letter Oo and Pp this week. Our sight words are more, before, and of.

We have been practicing our emergency procedures in the past weeks - lockdown, fire drills, and evacuation (to come soon)- and will have some more practicing as the weeks go by.

Keep on working

On into April!

This week we are featuring the letter Nn. Each week we do a variety of activities relating to the letter we are studying. Please remember, if your child brings home the letter bucket, please help him/her to find a number of items that begin with that letter. Our sight words are any, many, and had.

We are beginning a new Reading Club this week in K-2, so look for your child's Reading Club duotang and bag, and help them with the activities you find inside.

on to Easter!

Another 4-day week! And after that a 4-day weekend! But this week will hopefully be a bit quieter than last week was. Thanks to those of you who came out to Parent/Teacher interviews. If any of you were unable to attend and would like to meet with me, please don't hesitate to contact me. The phone number in my classroom is 662-7083.

We are concentrating on the letter Mm this week. Sight words are who, which, and with.

This is our last week for You and Your World sessions and, beginning next Tuesday, April 15th, we will again be doing Reading Club activities.

Lots going on this week!

Well, this week will be a busy one - starting with the report cards that come home today. Tomorrow the TNB Young Company will be putting on their presentation of "Charlotts's Web". Wednesday afternoon the MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) group will be putting on a presentation for K-5 students. On Thursday we will have a regular school day, with Parent-Teacher Interviews from 6:30-8:00pm. Friday morning will be more Interviews, from 9-11:30. Therefore there will be no school for students on Friday, April 3rd. There is also a Scholastic Book Fair taking place in the library Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Times are attached to the flyer your child brings home today.

Please have a good look at your child's report card, and return the envelope (signed on the back) with the interview response sheet inside. I look forward to seeing many of you Thursday and Friday.

We are emphasizing the letter "Ll" this week, as well as the following words: look, why and where.

Have a great week! Don't let your kids get the best of you on April Fools Day!!!!

Spring has Sprung!

Well, the first day of Spring has come and gone, and we're still waiting for warm, Spring-like weather. I know it will come, but sooner would be nice,eh?

The letter Kk is our emphasis this week, along with the sight words what, when and okay. In Math we're practicing numbers to 10 - counting backwards and forwards, what comes before and after, etc.

Report cards come home next week, probably Monday, March 30, but possibly Tuesday, March 31st. Parent-Teacher will be Thursday night (Apr 2) and Friday morning (Apr 3). There will also be a Scholastic Book Fair at that time in the library.

Please send $2 with your child for the TNB Young Company presentation of Charlotte's Web on the 31st of the month.

Once again, even though the snow is gone, the wind blows cold on the playground. Please make sure your child has snow pants, boots, mitts, and a warm hat for recess.
