WEEK 16

Well, here we are at the last week before Christmas break - already!  This will be a busy week,  for sure!

The last two alternate sounds - "er, ir, and ur", and "au and aw" - will be covered, as well as the tricky words come, some, and as.

Our Christmas Concert will be tonight, Monday, at 7pm.   Please have your child in our classroom by 6:45.  We are one of the first classes in the program.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, is Green Day, so join in the fun and be green!  ;0), On Wednesday, wear a Santa hat, and Thursday you can have a drink of hot chocolate for free!
Friday, December 21st, is the last day before Christmas break, and will be a full day of school.

Tom joins me in wishing each of you a happy and safe holiday season, with best wishes for the New Year!   See you all here back in school on Wednesday, January 9th, 2013!

WEEK 15

Well, the countdown is really on for Christmas.  This next week we will be practicing for the Christmas Concert, which will take place Monday, December 17th, at 7pm.  On that evening, please have your child in the classroom by 6:45pm.

The week will also have special days - Monday the 10th is PJ Day (wear your favourite pjs), Thursday the 13th is Toque Day (wear your winter hat all day!).  The following week looks like this - Monday the 17th is Red Day, Tuesday the 18th is Green Day, and Wednesday the 19th is Santa Hat Day.

We will also be trying to do some work --lol.  The words for the week are you and your, and we will be looking at alternate spellings for some of the sounds:  ue and ew, ir,er and ur, oi and oy, and ou and ow.

The last day of school before the Christmas Break is December 21st, and it will be a full day of school.

WEEK 14

Well, here we are in December!  There aren't too many days until Christmas holidays are upon us.

We have just a few more sounds to learn, and this week we will do the alternative sounds that go with "ai" - ay and a_e (we call this the magic e, as it jumps over the consonant before it to make the a say it's name), "ee" - ea , and "ie" - igh, toughy y, and i_e.   New words for the word wall are "are" and "all".

I have sent home your child's report card today, and with it a note for you to send back to me about when you might come to see me, if you feel the need.

The Elementary drama club will present their play, "When Pink Flamingoes Feel Blue", on Wednesday night, Dec.5, at 6pm, and then again for Grades K-5 on Thursday morning, Dec.6, at 9am.
