Another full week ahead...
The sounds we are "doing" this week are ue, er, au/aw, and ar. New words coming home in the sight and tricky words bags are to and do.
I can only ask that you keep on having your child practice his/her words that come home, as well as the sounds in the yellow duotang. The more children practice what we are doing in school, the better they will know it, and their self-confidence will soar!
You can refer to the sheet that came home last week with the topics covered in math in the next few weeks. We are talking about and doing activities concerning the numbers 1-5.
Please, also, remember our World Vision challenge this holiday season, raising money for a mobil health clinic, as well as for warm shoes and clothing for needy children. Thank you in advance for your support.

Thank you to all of the parents who came out for Parent-Teacher Interviews. I appreciate the time to sit and talk about your child with you, and hear your comments, questions and concerns. Please feel free to contact me at any time - your child and his/her education is important to me!

New sounds for the week are qu, ou (as in sound), and oi.

New words for the word wall are be and was.

This week the whole school is focusing on bullying - the identification and the prevention of it. We will talk each day about it - what it looks like, sounds like, etc., and what we can do about it. The grand finale of the week is a K-12 assembly in the gym on Friday afternoon, where there will be a video and other presentations, as well as a whole-school PINK photo! Thanks for your support in this project!

Here we are - the first report cards of the year are coming home Monday, November 15th. Please sign the envelope and return it to me with the sign-up sheet for Parent-Teacher interviews. I have done some testing and will be happy to go over the results with you at either of the sessions.

New sounds for the coming week are x,ch,sh, and th.

New sight and tricky words are me and we.

Because of Parent-Teacher interviews, there is no school for students on Friday, November 19th.

Well, we've had a couple of full weeks, and now we come to another short one - Thursday is Remembrance Day, so there will be no school on that day. Grades K-12 will have a Remembrance Day service in school on Wednesday afternoon.
This week we are finishing up our next group of sounds - having done z, w, ng, and v, we will finish this group with 00 and OO (00 as in book, and OO as in boot). After the review video on Tuesday, we will start the next group with y. I have emphasized to the students that they need to practice the sounds they've learned without the picture clues - so the half scribbler with the letters alone should be used regularly for practice as well as the big yellow duotang.
New tricky and sight words this week are he and she - this brings our list to: a, at, dad, for, is, I, mom, or, that, the, are, come, said, and do, and these words should be practiced regularly so that your child can feel confident when we begin writing.
